Intricate, Meaningful Paper Art by Peter Callesen
A4 paper: one of the most commonly seen objects we see every single day. Very few things epitomize neutrality, normalcy, and mass production like a sheet of white paper. It's exactly this commonality that inspires Peter Callesen to use it as his preferred artistic medium.
The thin white paper gives the paper sculptures a frailty that underlines the tragic and romantic theme of my works.
The paper cut sculptures explore the probable and magical transformation of the flat sheet of paper into figures that expand into the space surrounding them.
Each sculpture achieves a meaning through its sheer simplicity, but the work requires a careful hand and keen eye.
Here are some of our favorite pieces.
The Short Distance Between Time and Shadow
All in All
Down the River
Angel
Closet
In The Beginning (Snake Inside An Egg)
Distant Wish
The End of the Road
The Impossible Meeting
Fall
